Power Arrangement

The TPP boards can be powered directly through the terminal block located next to the RJ45 jack. The board expects regulated +5V power. We recommend the power supply with at least 1-1.5A output current capability.

For Gen 1 devices, 300mA of this power budget will be used for the TPP board alone.

For Gen 2 and 3 devices, 140mA of this power budget will be used for the TPP board alone, not including the buzzer. When buzzer is on, another 50mA will be consumed.

The WA2000 Wi-Fi add-on, if present, will consume an additional 300mA of current. Installed Tibbits will also add to the overall power consumption.

Alternatively, the TPP board can be powered using power supply Tibbits (such as #9, #10, #23, etc.), in which case there will be no need to connect +5V power to the board.

Some Tibbits (such as #13 or #14) require additional +15V and -15V power to function. These voltages are not generated by the TPP and can't be applied externally. The only way to produce them is to install a special power Tibbit #12.

The Tibbit Power Lines topic contains additional information on the subject.

An onboard wide-input-range power supply provides 2.5A of current and eliminates the need for power Tibbits — use either the 8V to 60V DC-in connectors.

Power consumption is generally more than 4.5W without installing any Tibbits consuming substantial amounts of power.

12V/1A or 24V/1A power supplies have been tested successfully.

A tip note icon. While there are two DC-in connectors (8V and 60V), only one should be used at a time.
